Kyle is an Associate with Mullen Coughlin, practicing in the Incident Response practice group. After an organization experiences an actual or suspected data privacy and security incident, Kyle assists in the response and investigation by coordinating with internal and external incident response stakeholders to identify, mitigate and contain the incident with minimal legal, financial or operational harm.
Kyle started his career in the U.S. Army National Guard, where he served as an All-Source Intelligence Analyst in the 29th Infantry Division. Both as a civilian and as a soldier, Kyle worked over the past decade assisting the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in the execution of offensive military cyber operations; conducting incident response; development of cyber policy and federal acquisition regulations; and, most recently, supported the development and implementation of the DoD Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Program.
Having worked at the United States Cyber Command, the Pentagon, Army Cyber Command and alongside the DoD’s Chief Information Officer (CIO), Kyle has developed a deep understanding of the data privacy and security risk landscape, threat vectors, advanced persistent threats (APTs) and data privacy and security best practices. This experience enables Kyle to assist affected organizations to identify vulnerabilities, anticipate certain threats and to navigate complex regulatory, data privacy and information security frameworks ensuring organizational compliance with ever-changing U.S. state and federal data privacy laws and regulations.
Kyle received his juris doctor from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School, where he concentrated in Cyber Law. While a J.D. candidate, Kyle served on the editorial board of the National Security Law Journal as the Articles Selection Editor and as a Student Advisor for the Mason Veterans and Service Members clinic, assisting veterans and dependent family members in a wide variety of litigation and non-litigation matters.
