Katherine Bell is an Associate at Mullen Coughlin, practicing primarily in the Firm’s Incident Response practice group. On behalf of organizations of all sizes and from all industries, Katherine serves as a Breach Coach coordinating the response and investigation into real or suspected data privacy and security incidents. This involves first, in conjunction with third-party incident response vendors, identifying the nature and scope of the incident. Then, using evidence gathered throughout the investigation, Katherine identifies any state, federal or industry-related legal or regulatory obligations the organization has stemming from the incident. She also liaises with cyber insurance carriers/brokers, law enforcement and regulatory bodies as a routine part of her practice and during investigations into data privacy and security incidents.

Katherine earned her juris doctor from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, where she also earned a Master of Laws in Cyber Law and Data Privacy. As a J.D. candidate, she was a member of the Privacy, Cybersecurity and Compliance Society and an intern with Drexel’s Privacy Program Services. She was a member of the Moot Court Board and was awarded “Best Oral Advocate” and “Best Overall” at the 2021 Hennessy Employee Benefits Competition and inducted into the Order of the Barristers. She also served as President of the Student Bar Association and was the recipient of the “Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Law School Community”.
