Kate Stone is an Associate practicing in Mullen Coughlin’s Incident Response practice group. She focuses her practice on counseling organizations of all sizes and across all industry group sectors on their legal, regulatory, industry-related and contractual obligations stemming from a data privacy and security incident, such as a ransomware attack, business email compromise (BEC) or third-party breach. She coordinates the investigation and response into incidents by working closely with various incident response stakeholders such as cyber insurance carriers and brokers; local, state and federal law enforcement; digital forensic investigators; and ransom negotiation and payment firms. She also coordinates post-incident services in collaboration with known and approved credit/identity monitoring firms, notice mailing vendors and public relation firms.
Before joining Mullen Coughlin, Kate was a Law Clerk with the Firm. She also gained valuable data privacy and security experience as a Legal Intern with Willis Towers Watson, Allied Universal and Everbridge, Inc.
While a J.D. candidate at Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, Kate won the CALI Award for “Best Student Performance in Contract Drafting” and also coordinated the School’s “Neurotech & Law Symposium.” She was a board member of the “Center for Law & Transformational Technology” and President of the “Women in Law Society.”
