GENESEE COUNTY, MI – Snow day!
Many mid-Michigan students will have Thursday off after one of the first winter storms of the season forces school closures on Dec. 5.
A hazardous weather outlook is in effect for a region of southeast Michigan, including Genesee, Shiawassee and Lapeer Counties, just after 4 a.m. this morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow accumulation and wind gusts of 35 miles per hour have dropped temperatures down to the single digits, forcing many area school districts to call off classes.
Thursday’s closures include the following school districts:
- Atherton Schools
- Beecher Schools
- Bendle Schools
- Bentley Community Schools
- Burton Glen Academy
- Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools
- Clio Schools
- Davison Schools
- Fenton Schools
- Flint Community Schools
- Flint Cultural Center Academy
- Flushing Schools
- Grand Blanc Schools
- Genesee ISD
- Goodrich Schools
- Holly area Schools
- Lake Fenton Schools
- Mt. Morris Schools
- Westwood Heights Schools
Genesee County’s biggest district, Grand Blanc, wrote on its Facebook page announcing the closure around 5:30 a.m. citing icy road conditions.
