DETROIT, MI -- Watching the latest cars at the Detroit Auto Show can rev up an appetite.

The auto show kicks off Friday, Jan. 10, with a media day and charity preview and will open to the general public on Jan. 11, at Huntington Place, 1 Washington Blvd. It will run through Monday, Jan. 20.

Here are 15 restaurants less than a mile from the convention center that you may want to check out.

The Apparatus Room

Get a taste of New American cuisine paired with craft cocktails and wines at The Apparatus Room.

The Apparatus Room is located within the Detroit Foundation Hotel, 250 W. Larned St., offering options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch on weekends with menus crafted by its chef, Rece Hogerheide.

Dinner menu items include roasted heritage chicken, halibut, smoked chicken heritage pork chop and braised beef short rib, while lunch features items like chicken ciabatta club sandwiches, lamb pastrami sandwiches and smash burgers.

Dime Store

This all-day brunch restaurant is known for serving scratch-made breakfast and lunch food, as well as traditional and creative twists to brunch specialties, according to its website. Menu items include everything from its cheesesteak benny to its brioche French toast.

Dime Store also offers a full bar complete with beer, wine and cocktails like sangria, mimosas and espresso martinis.

The location is inside the Chrysler House at 719 Griswold St. #180 and is open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday through Tuesday. Learn more online.

Anita’s Kitchen

Find an authentic Lebanese lunch with this fast-casual restaurant in downtown Detroit.

Anita’s Kitchen offers healthy meal options for people searching for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and Halal meals. Menu items include smoothies, salads, pita sandwiches, soups, burgers, bowls and sides like loaded house fries, fried cauliflower and falafel.

Customers can order chicken shawarma bowls, falafel pita sandwiches and chicken feta Fattoush salad, among other items.

Townhouse is offering diners a chance to get a bite of its take on modern American cuisine.

The restaurant at 500 Woodward Ave. is a spot to enjoy weekend brunch, lunch, dinner, desserts, coffee and a menu full of cocktails.

Townhouse’s menu items include salads, sushi, sandwiches and other dishes like Wagyu Tartare, blue crab beignets, shrimp ceviche, Nashville hot bao buns, seared salmon, prime filet and more depending on the time of day.

The restaurant is open for brunch 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for lunch Monday through Friday. Dinner is available 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Learn more online.

Bohemia at The Detroit Club

Another place to check out for a bite to eat is at Bohemia at The Detroit Club.

The restaurant, 712 Cass Ave. describes its offerings as “fine American cuisine” that reflects “the elegance and tradition,” of its venue, according to its website. It offers appetizers like oysters and baked Italian meatballs with entrees like lobster fettuccine and lamb shank.

Central Kitchen + Bar

Sink your teeth into a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich or shrimp tacos for dinner at Central Kitchen + Bar.

The restaurant is another option to check out if your stomach is rumbling after the auto show. Besides dinner, the restaurant is also a place for weekend brunch or lunch with options like salmon bowls, tuna salad and chicken wings.

Mike’s Kabob Grille

Mike’s Kabob Grille is offering a casual spot to get some American and Mediterranean staples in Detroit.

The restaurant at 719 Griswold St. inside the Chrysler House Building offers everything from breakfast to dinner with menu items like pita wraps, burgers, salads, subs, gyros, omelets, grape leaves, hummus, and, of course, shish kabobs.

Grand Trunk Pub

This Detroit restaurant offers some history along with its meals.

Grand Trunk Pub, 612 Woodward Ave., has a rich Detroit history dating back to 1905 when it was a ticket station for the Grand Trunk Railway. The building was soon transformed into a bar and kitchen for the Metropole Hotel before turning into what it is today.

The pub’s menu features items like steak bites, Reuben egg rolls, smash burger tacos, Cajun salmon burgers, chicken and waffles, Sheperd’s Pie, cheese curds and beef short ribs, among other items.

Tommy’s Detroit Bar & Grill offers a tavern experience complete with bar food.

The laid-back restaurant offers salads, sandwiches, burgers and appetizers which the bar calls “Tommytizers,” which include wings, pretzel bites, chicken tenders and baskets of fries, tater tots and onion rings.

The business, 624 3rd Ave., is open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday and 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday.

The Hudson Cafe

Brunch is on the menu at The Hudson Cafe in downtown Detroit.

The cafe at 1241 Woodward Ave. serves a variety of dishes including red velvet pancakes, s’more French toast, strawberry Nutella crepes, house made corned beef hash, fried chicken and waffles along with a range of omelets, sandwiches and salads.

Get a taste of Andiamo Detroit Riverfront after the show at 400 Renaissance Center, Suite A-403.

The restaurant’s menu is full of homemade pastas, soups. salads. seafood and dishes featuring beef, chicken, lamb, duck and veal.
