*Warning, this story contains spoilers for Time Cut*

Netflix film Time Cut is finally here as it becomes available on the streaming service just in time for Halloween.

The horror film explores tropes of a slasher movie mixed in with aspects of time travel, as a high school student accidentally gets sent back 20 years and discovers she can potentially prevent her sister's murder.

Like many films of its kind, there are some twists and turns along the way with a surprise reveal during the final scenes.

However, once viewers have finished the film and the credits start to roll, they may wonder if we could be in line for a sequel.

Here's everything we know about a potential follow-up so far.

As the film has only just been released, the director, writer and stars are yet to comment on whether they are specifically interested in working on a Time Cut 2.

While it may seem odd to some for a film of this type, horror is always prime for sequels.

Franchises like Saw, Scream and Halloween have all spawned several follow-ups of their own. These series have even inspired reboots and spin-offs so anything could happen.

Time Cut shouldn't be limited even though it features time travel either, as Groundhog Day-like horror Happy Death Day also received the sequel treatment.

In fact, the co-writer of Time Cut, Michael Kennedy, also penned the body swap slasher film Freaky, which saw Vince Vaughn's serial killer swap places with one of his potential teenage victims.

Talks for a sequel for that film have reportedly stalled but Kenney has outlined a possible crossover with fellow Blumhouse film Happy Death Day.

Speaking to Inverse, he pitched it as 'Freaky Death Day' and said the main characters of each film would be cousins.

He said: "In my head, the movies (Freaky and Happy Death Day) happened simultaneously and then they somehow meet or run into each other and they’re like, ‘Oh my God, I just had the craziest day,’ and they’re like, ‘Me too.’"

But he still has the beginnings of a straight Freaky sequel as he added: "My dream scenario is multi-body swap, or the kids all switch with each other and the Butcher. I always envisioned the Butcher has a sister that comes and is like, ‘You killed my brother,’ and in my head it’s Charlize Theron.”

Considering these ideas, it shouldn't be ruled out that there could be a sequel for the Netflix film or even a Freaky Time Cut crossover where characters from different timelines also swap bodies.

After all, the fate of the time machine used in Time Cut is not specifically revealed and so could therefore be used again.

Another killer could easily stumble upon it and use it to travel back in time.

There's also a possibility that any follow-up carries the same premise but with a whole new mystery, characters and killer to unmask.

Time Cut is streaming now on Netflix.
