Harry Potter stars reveal how they shot the famous Pixie scene from the Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter stars have explained how they filmed one of the iconic Pixie scenes from the second film.

Harry Potter stars have revealed how they filmed the famous pixie scene from Chamber of Secrets.

In a video on TikTok, Harry Potter stars have been describing how they shot the Pixie scene from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The scene used CGI to portray the blue Pixies, which were let loose by Gilderoy Lockhart in one of his lessons at Hogwarts.

During the scene, Gilderoy loses control over the pixies and they begin to wreak havoc in the classroom. They were there to really portray Lockhart's incompetence as a wizard and also a teacher.

In the video, Harry Potter director Chris Columbus explains to the children that the need to be looking around the room as if watching the pixies flying about everywhere.

The video then cuts to an interview with Chris who said: "The pixies were an homage to a film I wrote called Gremlins, so the pixies were flying gremlins.

"But I wanted them to have a sense of humour like the Tasmanian Devil in the old Warner Brothers cartoons.

"So for me the pixies were an opportunity to recreate some of those characters that were part of my past."

Meanwhile, one of the film designers explained that they wanted them to look like creatures as opposed to little people. Chris said: "Because it was a creatures class we wanted them to have this mischievous little blue creatures."

In the video, Emma Watson recalls the scene and said: "They [the directors] attached wire to bits of my hair and I had to pretend they [pixies] were pulling my hair."

She said she had to duck and dive in the scene, pretending to get away from the pixies. Emma added: "I just remember having loads of fun with that scene."

Much of Harry Potter was filmed using CGI and special effects so it must have been quite tough at some points to get the children to imagine they were being chased or attacked by something that wasn't really there.
