During Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, Susanna and co-host Richard Madeley returned to our TV screens as they took on hosting duties and presented the day's top stories.

Moments before getting stuck into the show, the duo were met by weather presenter Laura Tobin, who was on hand to present her regular segment but Susanna was quick to point out that her voice had changed.

Susanna started off by saying: “Good Morning Britain, it’s just after 6am.” Turning to her co-star Laura, she asked: “I’m afraid my first question this morning has to be ‘who are you and what have you done with Laura Tobin?’”

Everyone burst out laughing as Laura explained: “So I woke up this morning and I didn’t have much of a voice but it’ll get higher throughout the morning I promise.”

Susanna asked: “Is this your vocal cord or is this the amount you had last night.” Laura confirmed: “So I don’t drink during the week so I think my vocal cords might be a bit weak.”

A concerned Richard jumped in and added: “We’ve all got it, I’ve had it for two weeks so I sympathise. You’ll get better.”

Susanna joked: “I don’t think anyone has what Laura Tobin’s got because that voice is even lower than Alex Beresford.” Laura added: “I’ll just be very quiet today, so short weather today.”

Later on in the show, Susanna and Richard halted the live broadcast as they announced some breaking news to viewers watching at home.

The duo confirmed that a new version of the Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas? is being released and will feature voices from three previous editions of the song, Band Aid (1984), Band Aid 20 (2004) and Band Aid 30 (2014).

Musicians Bono, Paul McCartney and Ed Sheeran are all lending their voices to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the historic chart hit, which raised more than £8million back in 1984.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 6am
