Xbox has delivered a fresh collection of games on Xbox Game Pass, and it's coming with plenty of big day one releases.

Xbox Game Pass is the crown jewel of Xbox’s offerings for many, and it has dramatically changed how people view the way they consume games, for better or worse. Players have a huge catalogue of titles to enjoy, from first-party titles to Xbox Game Studios and beyond, to indie gems that many players simply wouldn’t have spotted otherwise. It has made playing new games incredibly easy for many, but in other ways, it has led to players choosing to simply not buy new games, in fear that they’ll appear on the pass shortly after.

Either way, Xbox continues to prove the great value of the service with each new update, with the last update offering the Black Ops 6 early access beta, and though we’re only a few days into September, it's already refusing to mess around with an update that could indicate some interesting tidbits about what to expect in the future.

Xbox Games Pass update September 2024 games lineup update

The official Xbox blog has confirmed that the following games will be joining the service in September:

  • Star Trucker (console, PC, cloud) - Available today
  • Age of Mythology: Retold (Xbox Series X|S, PC, cloud) – September 5
  • Expeditions: A MudRunner Game (console, PC, cloud) – September 5
  • Riders Republic (console, PC, cloud) – September 11
  • Train Sim World 5 (console, PC, cloud) – September 17

This is a fascinating update, with Star Trucker, Age of Mythology: Retold and Train Sim World 5 serving as day-one releases. However, interestingly, we recently reported that while Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is unlikely to come to Game Pass any time soon, the addition of Expeditions: A MudRunner Game could uproot this. Both games are developed by Saber Interactive, and Expeditions’ debut here on Game Pass comes only six months after its launch on Xbox on March 5, 2024. Perhaps this addition could imply a similar release window for Space Marine 2, depending on its financial successes.

Games leaving Xbox Game Pass in September 2024

Of course, as many games flood into the Xbox Game Pass, some must leave – and unfortunately, there are some bangers on their way out in September.

The following games are leaving the service on September 15:

  • Ashes of Singularity: Escalation (PC)
  • FIFA 23 (console, PC, cloud)
  • Payday 3 (console, PC, cloud)
  • Slime Rancher 2 (console, PC, cloud)
  • SpiderHeck (console, PC, cloud)
  • You Suck at Parking (console, PC, cloud)

To lose games like Slime Rancher 2 is a major bummer, particularly as it's a title that players lose a lot of time to, and it’ll be especially tough if fans are only halfway through building the slime farm of their dreams – but Xbox Game Pass makes sacrifices to make waves, and it looks like it plans to do just the same in its delivery of some major day one releases.
