Pokemon TCG Pocket is about to undergo some major changes as it introduces features that players have been hoping for over the next few months.

In such a short period of time, Pokemon TCG Pocket has taken the world by storm. We’ve seen Pokemon do this before with the arrival of Pokemon Go pushing players out into the streets in their thousands, but this time around, it seems that The Pokemon Company is taking aim at collectors. The reveal of Pokemon TCG Pocket was a compelling one, as players wondered just how excited they could be by opening digital packs of cards that don’t actually offer them physical rewards (and that they can't sell for extortionate prices) – and then they got started, finding that actually, it’s easier than ever to get hooked on collecting cards when you can open multiple packs a day for free, and even more if you’re willing to shell out for the Premium Pass.

And now, it looks like the game could be getting even more impressive as it prepares to dole out a number of changes over the next few months, with a major change set to come in January in a roadmap of sorts that charts the future of Pokemon TCG Pocket. Here’s what we can expect to see from the Pokemon TCG Pocket roadmap.

Pokemon TCG Pocket roadmap - features to come to the game

The Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket Operations Team has taken to Twitter to reveal something of a roadmap for upcoming features set to come to the game, including ones that players have been desperate to see already.

Here’s what the Twitter post revealed:

  • New in-game events

  • New booster packs to be added to the game by the end of the year

  • A new feature that allows players to trade certain cards starting in January 2025

In terms of actual additions, there’s not a lot to work with here, but the addition of trading is a massive deal. The trading aspect is the best part of actually collecting the cards in real life, so its absence in the app is really felt at the moment. Luckily, it’s something we can look forward to in the coming months.

Plus, new booster packs before the end of the year is a treat for players. Many are reaching the capacity of fun to have with the Genetic Apex collection if they don’t have it in them to collect every single card available, so the appearance of new cards will no doubt be a thankful addition.

It’s a vague Pokemon TCG Pocket roadmap, but it’s a roadmap regardless, and we’ll take what we can get when it comes to the collectathon game. The future is looking bright for our collections.
