MS Program

The Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program is designed for people with an undergraduate degree in a field other than occupational therapy. It is a rigorous course of graduate study comprising 62 credits, including 12 credits of Fieldwork II, taken within two calendar years. In addition, because the degree is a Master of Science (rather than a Master of Occupational Therapy, or MOT), there is a requirement for research experiences that includes completion of a research project.

The MSOT program at UNC-Chapel Hill is an entry-level program, organized and sequenced for full-time, in-person study. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the national certification exam, administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy ® (NBCOT®), and obtain a license to practice in their state.
