Resort-Style Shower Room

Organic Resort-style shower

This shower room was large enough to incorporate a multi-shower system—along with a large stone vessel tub at the heart. "We selected natural materials for an organic and grounded space paired with neutral colors to evoke relaxation," says Lindye Galloway, founder and chief creative officer of Lindye Galloway Studio. To inject even more warmth, Galloway combined limestone tile and paneling on the walls, integrated three windows, and tucked a stone bench into the corner.

Industrial vibes abound in this custom steel and glass shower enclosure. Lavender might be an unexpected color for your shower, but it also makes perfect sense in this bold space. "I wanted a bold look with soothing colors to keep the small bathroom from feeling too busy," says interior designer Ashley DeLapp. "The wallpaper is the star of the room, but the metallic, fabric-backed shower tile sparkles enough to hold its own—and ties into the background color of the paper." DeLapp also tied in the gold metallic accents in the wallpaper with the metallic fixtures for a cohesive finish.

If you have a small bathroom, but envision a shower of epic proportions, take your cue from this innovative "disappearing shower" design from Eddie Maestri, principal architect and owner of Maestri Studio. "By utilizing frameless glass and incorporating the floor as a continuous pattern throughout the shower, we shifted the focal point to the window and greatly expanded the feel of the space," he says.

Soaked in natural light, this spacious bathroom comes to life with a matching black-and-white pattern found in both the shower and the floor. "By continuing the shower accent wall as a live pattern on the floor, the vessel tub is visually grounded and warmth is injected into the modern bathroom," Maestri says. It's a clever way to make sure you get your tub and shower, too.

The next door sauna room is perhaps another idea to add to your renovation inspiration board.

Showers are often tucked into corners where they seem to "fit best," which makes this elongated, hallway-style shower a showstopper. Designed by Audrey Scheck Design, the team eliminated the bathtub to double the shower space and make room for a custom linen closet. The subtle pop of color on the shower floor and minimalist recessed shelving and bench make the space feel clean and fresh.

Simplicity can speak volumes, as evidenced by this crisp white walk-in designed by Denise Davies, founder of D2 Interieurs. White-gray tiling on the walls lends a clean but dynamic aesthetic, while glass walls feel crisp and unfussy. A simple recessed shelf, white bench, and rain shower head make the space more welcoming.

Those who aren't really into white and bright may find more inspiration in this industrial black shower by interior designer James Judge. Layers of black-toned elements are incorporated throughout, including the subway tile floors, vertical wall tiles, and industrial metal and glass shower.

"Painting the ceiling black was an essential design decision for me because it helps to make the tile feel like it's wrapping around you and has full continuation," Judge says. "The glass shower doors made the room feel open without sacrificing its modern design."

The tone-on-tone approach in this bathing area, designed by Meredith Owen of Meredith Owen Interiors, creates a more "spa-like feel" and the selection of a vibrant tone and texture makes for a true wow moment. To balance the space, match your hardware and opt for a glass enclosure.

Earthy, Neutral Shower Space

Earthy, Neutral Shower

Julie Soefer

The goal of this shower space was to blur the lines between indoor and outdoor, which the designer did by eliminating walls and doors and incorporating organic materials and earthy tones. "We envisioned a space devoted to raw materials, organic decoration, and an open concept," says interior designer Kara Childress. "An antique wooden stool and wedding baskets were selected to complement the texture-rich plaster walls and add a sense of soft, unique character."

Walk-In With a Floor to Ceiling Window

Lance Gerber

To pull this shower design off, you'll need to live in a remote area that affords privacy. If you're lucky enough to live in such a place, then consider swapping out an enclosed wall and incorporating a floor to ceiling window instead.

"I take my cues from Mother Nature, as she always does it best," says Joshua Smith, founder and principal designer of Joshua Smith Inc. "With this shower, it was important for me to work with the existing aggregate brick on the exterior and select a wall tile that compliments it for a seamless transition. There's no need to over-design a shower that is accompanied by an amazing view like this one."

The pink, green, and gilded color scheme make this walk-in shower a standout. "Everything started with the pink and gold tile; it was my inspiration and I built the room around it," says DeLapp. "I chose an equally colorful bird wallpaper to balance out the shower." Notice how each bird has a touch of blush to create cohesion between the shower tiles and walls.

"To achieve a steam shower, we took the marble tile to the ceiling which left the bathroom feeling very luxurious," says Lauren Lerner, founder and principal designer of Living With Lolo. "Pops of color through the runner and the artwork gave the space a personality of its own."

Ultra-Modern Marble Shower

Ultra Modern Shower

Kern & Co

This ultra-modern, marble-encased bathroom positions this glass shower—spotlighted by a contemporary light fixture—like a piece of art. "Artistic tile used as the ombré mosaic back wall, white thassos mosaic flooring, and Calacatta slabs make this shower one of a kind," Spath says. "We used our signature dolomite and glacier marble in a herringbone pattern to create a stunning floor. Ten-feet-high ceilings add to the drama of this stunning, modern showcase shower."
