(UPDATE) CHOCO Mucho's setter Deanna Wong is expected to return this year after sitting out the first six games of Choco Mucho in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024-2025 All-Filipino Conference.
\r\r
After Choco Mucho concluded 2024 with a victory over Farm Fresh last December, head coach Dante Alinsunurin indicated that Wong is expected to return to the court in 2025.
\r\r
"For now she is already starting to train, and maybe by [2025] you can already see her [play]," Alinsunurin said confidently.
\r\r\r
\r
\r\r
Playmaker Mars Alba filled in for the injured Deanna Wong, who chose not to disclose the nature of her injury.
\r\r
Alba slated fifth in the best setter category, averaging 3.92 excellent sets per game, tallying 102 running sets, and 855 still sets.
\r\r
Her effective performance helped the team achieve a 3-3 win-loss record early in the tournament.
\r\r
Despite this improvement, the Flying Titans yearn to reach greater heights in the six-month-long league.
\r\r
Choco Mucho had a shaky start in the All-Filipino Conference and looks to resolve the gaps and lapses when the season resumes on Jan. 18.
\r\r
The purple squad began the season with a loss to Petro Gazz but then defeated the young teams Galeries and Capital 1.
\r\r
However, the Flying Titans then suffered consecutive defeats against the strong teams Cignal and Creamline.
\r\r
Despite facing setbacks, Choco Mucho ended 2024 on a high note by defeating Farm Fresh in a hard-fought five-set match.
\r\r
This victory, their third in six games, provided positive momentum heading into the new year.
\r\r
Choco Mucho faced significant challenges this season. They lost team captain Maddie Madayag, who took her talents to Japan, while middle blocker Des Cheng's playing time was limited due to her recovery from an acute cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
\r\r
Winger Kat Tolentino continues to adapt to an unspecified auditory condition, including deafness in her left ear. Meanwhile, Aduke Ogunsanya remains sidelined while recovering from a torn ACL.
\r\r
Despite all the team's setbacks, Alinsurin believes that there is a silver lining.
\r\r
"In terms of skills, all of them are improving, the efficiency is there. But we need to gel more as a team and more team building. We want to bond as a team, we want to be one," he said.

{"":[""],"seo_meta_keywords":[""],"seo_meta_description":[""],"seo_meta_title":[""],"sponsored_flag":[""],"offer_flag":["off"],"featured_article_flag":[""],"drupal_json":["{"type":null,"properties":{"PUBLISHED":0,"PROMOTED":0,"STICKY":0},"fields":[]}"],"wp_custom_json":["{"type":"","fields":[]}"],"article_tags":[""],"show_image":["off"],"Disable_Ad":["off"],"disable_player":["off"],"column":[""],"kicker":[""],"edel":[""],"delu":[""],"delt":["Read this in The Manila Times digital edition."],"premium":["off"],"Redirect_URL":[""],"Registration_required":["off"],"background_image":["off"],"user_needs":[""],"page_number":"0","initial_publication":"","date_created":"2025-01-13 10:55:53","date_modified":"2025-01-13 22:40:02","last_modified_user":"Sherwin Arnaiz","section_color":"#08F304","target_page":"0","cxense_metatags":null
Nicole Anne D.G.
