(UPDATE)<\/span> <\/strong>HEADING to the Paris Olympics last year, Filipino boxer Nesthy Petecio said that it was going to be her second and last trip to the Games, or so she thought.<\/p>\r\r
\"I said that Paris was going to be my last Olympics, but it seems like God doesn't want me to stop there. No stopping until the gold is here,\" said Petecio in an interview with Radyo Pilipinas 2 Sports.<\/p>\r\r During the awarding ceremony of the women's 57-kilogram class when she claimed a bronze medal in Paris last August, Petecio, after all, wasn't so sure about stopping her quest for an Olympic gold.<\/p>\r\r Thus, the first female Filipino boxer to medal at the Games asked God for a sign if she's done or if she's going to give it one more shot.<\/p>\r\r \"I asked for a sign from the Lord, and he gave me a legitimate sign. When the flags were being raised when we were at the podium, I was looking at the Philippine flag, and we're in third place,\" said Petecio.<\/p>\r\r \"I'm like I should have been on the top, but when I look at the Chinese Taipei flag, I kind of saw it as our flag instead, so I said to the Lord that this is the sign for me to give one more go at the Olympics.\"<\/p>\r\r While an Olympic gold is her ultimate goal in 2028, Petecio, who claimed a silver medal at the Tokyo Games in 2021, said that she isn't looking that far ahead.<\/p>\r\r The Los Angeles Olympics isn't around until three years, after all.<\/p>\r\r For now, the 33-year-old Petecio is focused on becoming a world champion anew and defending her Southeast Asian Games gold medal.<\/p>\r\r \"I'm not thinking about it yet because it's still far, there's still three years for me to prepare for that. I just focus on the things that are near.
