TERRAFIRMA guns for its fourth win to stay within the top 4 in the standings when the Dyip collide with the Meralco Bolts as the PBA Philippine Cup Season 48 continues today, April 3, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
\r\r
The Dyip and the Bolts (2-3) clash at 4:30 p.m. with Rain or Shine (1-4) facing off with winless Converge (0-5) at 7:30 p.m.
\r\r
Coached by John Cardel, Terrafirma chalked up win no. 3 just before the PBA All-Star break behind its 92-91 escape act against Blackwater.
\r\r
That game saw Juami Tiongson hit the game-winning triple to complete Terrafirma's comeback win.
\r\r
With three victories in five games, the Dyip's playoff chances look rosy at this point.
\r\r \r
\r
\r\rHowever, Tiongson admitted before the long break that they can't be complacent and rest on their current victories.
\r\r
"We need to keep working hard, especially since we have a good chance at making the playoffs," Tiongson said.
\r\r
The Dyip take on a Bolts side that administered a 91-73 manhandling of the Barangay Ginebra Kings prior to the All-Star break.
\r\r
While Meralco blew hot and cold at least during its first four games, the huge 18-point victory over Ginebra could be the momentum-builder the team needs to galvanize its playoff hopes.
\r\r
Meanwhile, Rain or Shine will be shooting for its first back-to-back victories this conference after dropping its first four games.
\r\r
The Elasto Painters snapped their long losing skid to open the conference by hammering Phoenix Fuel Masters, 100-85, two weeks ago.
\r\r
Rain or Shine has struggled this conference owing to a reduced front court with freshman Keith Datu sustaining an MCL sprain on his knee.
\r\r
Fellow rookie Luis Villegas has yet to see action this season as he also has knee issues to deal with.
\r\r
A stop-gap measure was the signing of veteran free agent Papot Paredes, whom the team recruited during the long break.
\r\r
Paredes is a PBA journeyman whose career started as the 15th overall (second round) by Barako Bull during the 2014 PBA Draft.
\r\r
The 6-5 former La Salle big man played for GlobalPort (now NorthPort), Mahindra (Terrafirma), TNT and NLEX.

{"":[""],"seo_meta_keywords":[""],"seo_meta_description":[""],"seo_meta_title":[""],"sponsored_flag":[""],"offer_flag":["off"],"featured_article_flag":[""],"drupal_json":["{"type":null,"properties":{"PUBLISHED":0,"PROMOTED":0,"STICKY":0},"fields":[]}"],"wp_custom_json":["{"type":"","fields":[]}"],"article_tags":[""],"show_image":["off"],"Disable_Ad":["off"],"disable_player":["off"],"column":[""],"kicker":[""],"edel":[""],"delu":[""],"delt":["Read this in The Manila Times digital edition."],"premium":["off"],"Redirect_URL":[""],"Registration_required":["off"],"background_image":["off"],"page_number":"25","initial_publication":"The Manila Times","date_created":"2024-04-02 19:06:08","date_modified":"2024-04-02 19:06:07","last_modified_user":"Ian Christopher Soreño","section_color":"#08F304","target_page":"25","cxense_metatags":null
{"image_path":"manilatimes/uploads/images/2024/04/02/323928.jpg","cms_type":"live","small_image":"","is_updated":"0","image_cropping":"{"original_image":{"image_original_width":674,"image_original_height":608,"icd_image_type":"original_image"},"main_image":{"image_main_width":1200,"image_main_height":1082,"icd_image_type":"main_image"}}","is_copied":"0","media_type":"0","image_caption":"Terrafirma’s Juami Tiongson (right) PBA PHOTO","image_alt_text":"","image_count":2}
;
