Eclipse Foundation
Eclipse Foundation is a software foundation that is home to many Java projects critical to the ecosystem including but not limited to Eclipse Adoptium (OpenJDK binaries), JakartaEE (successor to Java EE), MicroProfile (Cloud Native standards for Java) and the Eclipse IDE. The LJC is a paying member to support these good works as well as having direct engineering influence in critical projects.
LJC INVOLVEMENT
We write code, and we hold a seat on the Specification and Steering committees (i.e. We vote and guide on how APIs are developed). We contribute technically by contributing code to various Working Groups and projects, financially with our membership fees, and administratively by providing guidance on entire projects, process definitions, specifications & marketing activities for various Working Groups. Our involvement in Java EE Guardians group led to the creation of Jakarta EE project as successor of the Java EE.
