When talent goes off-script during a live broadcast, I stay calm and handle it in real time. The first thing I do is assess the situationâhow far off are they, and does it still work with the tone of the event? Using the talkback system, Iâll discreetly guide them back on track if needed or signal a planned transition to regain focus. Sometimes, though, going off-script adds something unexpected and valuable. In those cases, I adapt on the fly, tweaking visuals, overlays, or timing to make it work without disrupting the flow. Iâve been in situations like this during live healthcare broadcasts, and the key is preparationâhaving contingency plans and staying flexible so the show keeps its professionalism no matter what happens.
