Alene Hughes Taylor, 88, of Laurens and wife of the late Charles F. Taylor, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, at NHC Healthcare Clinton.

Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Betty Jones Hughes. Alene retired from NHC Healthcare Laurens as a bookkeeper and was a member of Laurens Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She attended The First, A Pentecostal Fellowship. Alene loved cooking and Gospel music.

She is survived by her sons, Charles “Roger” Taylor (Teresa) of Gray Court and Todd Franklin Taylor of Laurens; a brother, Joe Hughes (Brenda) of Enoree; grandchildren,
Michael Taylor (Sara), Luke Taylor (Makayla), Hannah Taylor (Parker), Leah Taylor, and Michaela Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Claire Taylor, Isaiah Taylor, Hughes Taylor, Jeremiah Taylor, Amiyah Taylor, Rhiyen Taylor and Adair Taylor.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alene was predeceased by a brother, Harold Hughes and sisters, Jenny Lancaster and Sarah Dunaway.

The family asks that you visit the Kennedy Mortuary, Wednesday afternoon (1:00 to 5:00) or Thursday morning (9:00 – 12:00) to pay your respects to Mrs. Taylor.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Laurens, conducted by Rev. James Owens and Rev. Brian Brock.
