Overview
Integrating two sites into one seamless platform
Kooba and Screen Ireland are coming into their 6th year as digital partners. Having originally worked with the organisation on their major rebrand from The Irish Film Board to Screen Ireland, we were delighted to get involved with not only a complete brand overhaul, but with the merging of the Screen Ireland and Screen Skills websites.

screenireland.ieAn innovative approach to different user groups
The merging of the existing Screen Skills site, and the main Screen Ireland site, has resulted in a better user experience overall. Within our UX process, we identified two main user types; individuals who are primarily interested in viewing content (i.e. the audience), and users who are directly involved in the industry. Taking into account these two user types, we introduced a toggle tab system within the main navigation, which allows for the user to effortlessly and seamlessly view tailored content specific to their user group. For example, users who click upon the ‘Industry’ tab, will only see content related to them, such as information relating to ‘Funding’ or ‘Skills Opportunities’. In doing this we have transformed the Screen Ireland into a central hub for users where they can browse and search for desired information both from an industry and audience perspective.
Reinforcing the brand throughout
The Screen Ireland rebrand was a core feature of the site and one that needed to be reflected throughout. To achieve this we incorporated the new assets, such as updated colours, graphics & typography throughout the site and also introduced darker features, specifically the background colours, for a more immersive experience. We wanted to create the perfect balance between these darker features, and the brighter colours seen within the new identity. We settled on introducing the more colourful elements within the call-to-action buttons as a three tone gradient, which shifts & evolves upon cursor hover, for a more engaging experience.
Pushing technical boundaries
The project introduced some technical complexities which required robust, creative solutions. Through the solution the Industry/Audience toggle we were able to effectively integrate two sites into one. Further to this, we needed to consider our approach to mixing old and new site elements. We wanted to ensure that the older Screen Ireland site elements, new Screen Ireland and Screen Skills elements and updated branding flowed across the site to enrich the user experience. Through a collaborative approach across all disciplines we were able to create a site that delivered on Screen Ireland/Screen Skills projects goals and objectives.
