JMC will be officially sunsetting today on March 24, 2022 and we welcome the birth of these two new organizations that will carry on much needed work and strengthen the broader collective field of Muslim organizations working towards collective liberation. Read more via the button below.

Justice for Muslims Collective works to dismantle institutional and structural Islamophobia through raising political consciousness and shifting narratives, community empowerment, organizing and healing, and building alliances across movements with a focus on the greater Washington region.
This focus of this program is on interventions to dominant narratives that criminalize Islam and Muslims, through research, writing, and political education events.
Through this program, we coordinate a Washington, DC Metro area (DMV) Resist Islamophobia coalition space quarterly that includes local, regional, and national groups around the goal of better understanding and mainstreaming an Islamophobia analysis. Our coalition work also includes participation in external coalitions around Metro Police Department surveillance and accountability for Amazon as it moves into the DMV.
This multifaceted program is focused mainly on our internal community and seeks to give Muslims a space through which they are empowered to take on leadership roles in order to take action and mobilize against different injustices the Muslim community faces. In addition, the program centers healing justice and thus JMC provides a space where Muslims and other marginalized communities can grieve from the violence that we continue to face. Our healing justice programming is facilitated by our in-house Chaplain and provides a space to grieve, work through, and exist in the current context of increased anti-Muslim rhetoric and overt policies that continue to target the community.
