Derbyshire (i/ˈdɑːrbᵻʃər/ or /ˈdɑːrbɪʃɪər/; abbreviated Derbys. or Derbs.) is a county in the East Midlands of England. A substantial portion of the Peak District National Park lies within Derbyshire. The southern extremity of the Pennine range of hills extends into the north of the county. The county contains part of the National Forest, and borders on Greater Manchester to the northwest, West Yorkshire to the north, South Yorkshire to the northeast, Nottinghamshire to the east, Leicestershire to the southeast, Staffordshire to the west and southwest and Cheshire also to the west.
Kinder Scout, at 636 metres (2,087ft), is the highest point in the county, whilst Trent Meadows, where the River Trent leaves Derbyshire, is its lowest point at 27 metres (89ft). The River Derwent is the county's longest river at 66 miles (106km), and runs roughly north to south through the county. In 2003 the Ordnance Survey placed Church Flatts Farm at Coton in the Elms (near Swadlincote) as the furthest point from the sea in Great Britain.
Leader of the House of Commons Jacob Rees-Mogg was accused of being contemptuous for reclining across the seats in the chamber.

Nigel Farage elected as Clacton MP | General Election 2024
Nigel Farage declared “we are coming for Labour” as he won his Clacton-on-Sea seat and became Reform UK’s second-ever MP.
After seven unsuccessful attempts to win a seat in parliament, Mr Farage said his win was “the first step of something that is going to stun all of you”.
The victory finally puts the Reform leader inside a political institution he has spent decades railing against and will test his ability to deliver on promises to voters.
Speaking after his win, Mr Farage said Reform’s performance in the election so far has been “truly extraordinary”.
“There is a massive gap on the centre-right of British politics and my job is to fill it,” he said.
“My plan is to build a mass national movement over the course of the next few years and hopefully be big enough to challenge the gen...

“My plan is to build a mass national movement over the course of the next few years and hopefully be big enough to challenge the general election properly in 2029.”
Earlier, Lee Anderson became Reform UK’s first MP, claiming the seat of Ashfield and kick-starting the party’s major electoral breakthrough.

The UK General Election in 2024 uses the new electoral boundaries. Only 65 of the 650 seats are staying the same. Some seats are new, while some are abolished. In these videos we look at why boundaries are changing, a summary of the new constituency including demographics and geography, how the population of the new constituency is formed from the old seats. Then we get into the politics. We present the results for each of the constituencies in 2019, then look at the trends for the main seat that is being replaced. For the main seat, we look who won, who came second, and the majority. We look at the graph of the vote share for the last 4 elections. Then we list the final list of candidates and make a prediction for the 2024 winner based on predictions using an optimistic scenario and a bad day for the Conservatives.
Data is from the UK Parliament, ONS, and Who Can I Vote For?

Wednesday 26 October was the first PMQs for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak MP.
Prime Minister's Question Time, also referred to as PMQs, takes place every Wednesday the House of Commons sits. It gives MPs the chance to put questions to the Prime Minister.
In most cases, the session starts with a routine 'open question' from an MP about the Prime Minister's engagements. MPs can then ask supplementary questions on any subject, often one of current political significance.
The Leader of the Opposition, Sir Keir Starmer, asks six questions and the leader of the second largest opposition party asks two.

She said: 'So actually, 131 – while there is no dressing it up, this is a massacre – they’ve actually, if this is right, pulled a few back from where they thought they were.' The Labour party was predicted to win by a 'landslide' in the 10pm exit poll, regaining dozens of seats lost in the 2019 elections
