JAMESTOWN — Jamestown Regional Medical Center recently presented its first DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses to Megan Hillius. The DAISY Award is an internationally recognized program that honors the compassionate care and clinical skill of nurses — values that align with JRMC's commitment to excellence in patient care.
Hillius, a registered nurse in JRMC’s obstetrics and gynecology department, was chosen for her unwavering commitment to patient-centered care and consistently demonstrating human kindness. Her nomination illustrated the lasting impression she made, describing two distinct care encounters — spanning two years — that showcased her compassion and dedication, JRMC officials said.

Shana Altringer’s nomination of Hillius highlighted her "exceptional care and empathy" during Altringer’s multiple pregnancies. “Megan deserves this award because of her gentle and comforting soul,” Altringer wrote. “She truly cares about the patients and the care she gives us.”
As part of her role, Hillius provides comprehensive care for women throughout their reproductive health journey, including education and counseling on sexual and reproductive health, disease prevention and birth control methods. In addition to working at the specialty clinic, Hillius serves as JRMC’s Shared Governance Committee president, where she is a strong advocate for patient safety, quality care and workflow improvement initiatives.
