THREE 60ft drapes to honour hundreds of lost species have been unveiled over the Granary building in King’s Cross.
The drapes, designed by artist Lucy Orta (above), are dramatic collages of everyday plants and animal species, intertwined with fantastical creatures such as unicorns.
The artwork, called Fabulae Naturae, is made up of images taken by Ms Orta and her partner, Jorge Orta, during their travels to the Amazon. It underscores the importance of protecting our endangered species. Ms Orta designed the drapes as part of her year-long Lost Species campaign.
Passers-by have the chance to make masks and placards, and enjoy music and dance performances.
Eventually, the drapes will be taken down and repurposed into a limited-edition collection of accessories.
