Featuring the IoT Awards 2024

Australia’s premier Internet of Things conference

Net zero, trust and technology

Thursday 13 June 8 am – 6 pm UTS Great Hall, Sydney
‘Data smartness’ is critical for our future. We can’t reach net zero without it. We won’t be safe without it. Our economy depends on it. Find out how at IoT Impact.

Thank you for attending IoT Impact 2024.

This event has now concluded.

IoT Impact is returning to UTS, one of the world’s top 10 young universities.

This is where we’ll explore, debate and uncover the critical HOW we get to net zero, achieve trust and implement IoT technologies to create a data smart Australia.

The HOW is hard! Why? Because it takes amazing collaboration and clarity of purpose.

IoT Impact will bring together the collaborators across government, industry and research to explore the possible, map the achievable and demonstrate ‘the how’. We’ll work together to advance our understanding and map the pathways to action.

Lab Tours This year we will also be offering Lab Tours at UTS as part of your ticket price. Spaces are limited and on a first come first served basis so reserve your spot today.

11.00am - 12pm

20 tickets available

The UTS Data Arena is a powerful 360-degree immersive facility that can help researchers, business and government simplify complex information. Users in the arena can surround themselves in data to observe, explore, refine, improve, discover and learn. Viewers stand in the middle of a large cylindrical screen, four metres high and ten metres in diameter. A high performance computer graphics system drives six 3D-stereo video projectors, edge-blended to create a seamless three-dimensional panorama.

Picture clarity is made possible from an image that’s 20,000 x 1200 pixels. Each user wears Active-Shutter Glasses, which present separate left/right views to achieve a stereo-visual effect. To complement the visual experience, a 16-channel audio system surrounds the Arena. Speakers fitted behind the perforated screen allow sound to be positioned in 3D space.

The Green Wall project is a collaboration between NTT and UTS. The aim of the project is to explore how the management of the Greenwalls could be simplified and made more efficient through the integration of sensor technologies and smart algorithms. By taking a Data-Driven approach to managing the operation and maintenance of Greenwall, we aim to reduce costs and provide a more detailed insight into their operational status. During the Greenwall visit we will describe the current experimental setup, the type of data we are collecting and what we are aiming to explore.

The Faculty of Engineering and IT (FEIT) at UTS hosts the Radio Frequency and Communication Technologies (RFCT) facility. This state-of-the-art hub unites a team of world-class researchers and engineers with international and local expertise. RFCT is a collaborative hub for multidisciplinary and industry-driven research and development. RFCT is dedicated to fostering the development of next-generation RF-based devices and supporting technologies. These innovations have the potential to revolutionize a vast array of sectors, including agriculture, telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturing, space exploration, transportation, cybersecurity, and the development of smart cities.

The UTS:RI Infrastructure Robotics Lab is where state of the art robotics research and development for the inspection and maintenance of civil structures takes place.

The goal of the research in Infrastructure Lab is to reduce the risk to workers by taking them out of hazardous environments and allowing them to remotely collect data and perform maintenance remotely.

Collaborating with industry partners both locally and internationally, UTS:RI has produced a long list of robotic workers designed to endure harsh conditions such as the dusty and claustrophobic interiors of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the corrosive waters of Sydney’s water distribution systems and the high altitudes of Japan’s power transmission towers.
