Lynn Redgrave had been starring on the CBS sitcom House Calls (1979), but she was infamously let go for breastfeeding her baby on the set. Eager to cash in on the publicity, NBC quickly wooed her into starring on this series.
Joel Brooks (Barney Betelman) exited the show before the completion of the second season. On CTV's streaming version, most episodes feature the revised opening credits which omit him.
This was Lynn Redgrave's first experience working in front of a studio audience.
