The UTSÅDD pet collection
The life of pets at home
At IKEA we don’t just believe in a better life at home for the many people, but for pets too. The UTSÅDD pet collection combines comfort and style, based on the main activities of our four-legged fur babies. Developed for and by pets, each product has undergone rigorous testing – not least by Leo, Benny and friends.

Pets have always played an important role in the home and today we’re closer than ever to our furry friends. Based on the expert knowledge of veterinarians, pet product experts, and a demanding panel of cats and dogs, the UTSÅDD pet collection is a range of products truly dedicated to the life at home of pets. Divided into the four main activities: eating, sleeping, playing and hiding, the collection combines comfort, style and functionality. With no set industry standards, how could we ensure the quality of the collection? Well, working with pet safety experts and veterinarians, we set up our own test panels and test lab. From biting machines for chewing and pulling to our team of four-legged testers (just don't call them guinea pigs), we put the range through its paces.
Eat

Eating is a favourite activity for many pets. Taking decades of experience from our cooking and eating range, we wanted to make mealtimes just as appealing for our feline and canine housemates. Ceramic bowls in different colours, sizes and adorned with patterns add a home interiors feel, but creating dinnerware for pets isn’t as simple as copying human designs. For example, dogs don’t see all colours and as we discovered from our panel of testers, patterns and some hues can be distracting or even off-putting. The solution? Patterns on the outside to make them visually appealing and easy to identify, with plain, muted shades on the inside to help them focus on their food. Stability is also an important factor, and that's why we chose ceramic, which is heavier and less likely to move around. We also created a placemat that not only keeps floors clean and makes it easy to pick up stray scraps, its anti-slip textured surface on both sides also keeps bowls in place.
Sleep

Sharing a bed with your pets can be cosy, but sleepless nights can really take its toll on the friendship. The UTSÅDD collection has beds in different shapes, sizes and materials, because just like us humans, not everybody likes the same bed. While some prefer the warmth and cosiness of a fluffy calm bed, others like the coolness of a pillow or sturdy supported edges.
Play

Play not only stimulates your pet, it also creates a stronger bond. When it came to developing products for play, we couldn’t have been more serious. Every toy in the collection has been bitten, pulled and chewed for safety and every material approved by pet care experts and more importantly, our discerning test panel. Made from natural rubber and 100% recycled polyester, toys from the UTSÅDD pet collection are strong and guaranteed to outplay active pooches. For DIY loving dogs, look out for our iconic Allen key, coming to the collection later this year.

We all know cats and dogs are different. While dogs love nothing more than being close, most cats prefer alone time in their own space and hiding out in boxes, waiting to pounce on anything that dares to enter their lair. These cat houses are designed to blend in with the home for the optimal element of surprise.
