I am a former newspaper editor and journalist who has worked in Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, Mississippi and Louisiana. During career received or shared more than 30 major press association awards for news and sports. Had lead editorial responsibility for newspapers in different states that earned the top general excellence award for their circulation category . Have worked primarily in fast growing upscale areas such as Madison and Lamar counties in Mississippi; DeSoto Parish, Louisiana; and the metro Tyler and San Antonio areas in Texas. Frequently covered economic development and zoning issues, including a city where the famous Golden Arches were restricted to about three feet tall. Worked six years as an assistant sports information director at Southern Illinois University. Served two years as chair of the CoSIDA Publicists for Women's Sports Committee. Grew up in the construction industry. Grandfather was a plasterer and father was a ceramic tile contractor. He and his partner also made and installed cultured marble, and they had patents related to the cultured marble lavatories. Enjoy design and space use, a natural outgrowth of creativity and newspaper design. Most recent home improvement project was total gut job that doubled size of kitchen.
