Take on any home improvement project with the right tools for the job – even if you don't own them. Rent the tools, use them, and bring them back when you're done. You can complete your project without taking up valuable shed or workshop storage with tools you only reach for every so often.
Tool Rental
The Home Depot Chalmette Tool Rental Center can expand the scope of your DIY projects. No more old hand-me-down tools that limit what you can do. Rent the tools to finish your project confidently and safely. If your local store doesn't have the needed tool in stock, it could be at another store within driving distance.
Heaters
If you dislike working or being outside in that winter chill, check out our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep worksites or outdoor event spaces warm. They heat a larger space than torch patio heaters, and they're also safer because they lack an open flame. We carry propane, gas, and electric heaters in various sizes. Couple this with good lighting and a jacket, and you can extend work or play well into the night.
Insulation
To make your home more energy efficient, add another layer to your insulation. Rent equipment made for insulation to get it installed correctly. Choose from a cellulose insulation blower or a fiberglass blower, and insulate those nooks and crannies properly. Help keep your heating and cooling bills under control with new insulation that maintains your home's temperature.
Truck Rental
DIY moves are a huge undertaking, but we're here to help you check transportation off your list with a truck rental. Choose from our many available rental vehicles. We carry a wide variety of moving truck sizes, so you can find the one the fits your move. Get your move rolling today.
Come to us with all your truck and tool rental questions. Let us make your moving and DIY projects easier. Stop by today to rent tools or vehicles to complete the job.
How do I rent trucks or tools?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. You can also check out our tool rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, including terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent a tool for an hour?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a truck or moving van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you must bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the provided documentation before you select a vehicle.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Make a note of the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that level. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
