CAA has signed screenwriter and playwright Michael Lesslie, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. He previously was with UTA.
Lesslie co-wrote Fox’s adaptation of the popular video game franchise Assassin’s Creed for director Justin Kurzel. It starred Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. He also worked with Kurzel and Fassbender previously, having helped adapt 2015’s Macbeth in his feature screenwriting debut.
He’s adapting another Shakespeare classic, Hamlet, with Riz Ahmed at Netflix. Ahmed, a friend of Lesslie from their Oxford University days, will also star in the modern-day retelling.
Lesslie will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the BBC and AMC’s upcoming limited series adaptation of John le Carre’s The Little Drummer Girl, starring Florence Pugh, Alexander Skarsgard and Michael Shannon. All six episodes will be directed by Park Chan-wook.
Lesslie continues to be represented by agent Rachel Holroyd at Casarotto Ramsay in the U.K. and by attorneys Richard B. Heller and Amy Nickin at Frankfurt Kurnit.
