George “Newt” Brown, 83, of Waynesburg, passed away at 6:28 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at home.
He was born August 2, 1940 in Waynesburg, a son of the late Edgar J. Brown and Margaret Shultz Brown.
Newt was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene in Waynesburg. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Germany.
Newt enjoyed woodworking when he was younger. He owned and operated Newt Brown construction doing wallpapering, painting and constructions for several years, retiring in 2017.
Newt is survived by his wife: Priscilla Policz Brown, whom he married on June 6, 1966. Also surviving are a daughter: Traci (Scott) Benke of Waynesburg, a son: Mark (Lisa) Brown of Jefferson, five grandchildren: McKenna Benke, Elise Benke, Brenna Benke, Braden Benke and Kerrington Brown, a Sister: Bonnie Lynn Policz of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased: two sisters, Mary Jane McClure and Sue Reiter; and two brothers, Edgar John Brown and Richard Allen “Rick” Brown.
There was visitation from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024 at The First Church of The Nazarene, 115 Deerfield Lane, Waynesburg, PA 15370 where services were held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brian Miller officiating. Burial will be at Fairall Cemetery, Whiteley Twp., Greene Co., PA 15370. Graveside military rites to be accorded by active members of the US Army and Greene County Veterans.
