When I heard that eastern Oregon counties are thinking of joining Idaho, I wrote a letter to the editor of 12 eastern Oregon and eastern Washington newspapers suggesting that the citizens of those areas petition Congress to reorient the border between Oregon and Washington from east-west to north-south along the Cascade Range. The western counties would be the new State of Oregon since the Willamette Valley was the heartland of Oregon Territory and the eastern counties would be the new state of Washington.
Moderate and conservative voters in the western counties ought to sign a petition to reconfigure the states because it would increase the number of commonsense U.S. senators by two, making it more difficult for the leftists to advance their agenda.
There might only be a two-year window to accomplish such a sweeping change.
