Patsy Larson Cox
1944 – 2023
Patsy Larson Cox passed away peacefully in Mt. Pleasant Utah on October 24, 2023 just 2 days shy of her 79th birthday.
She was born in Mt. Pleasant Utah on October 26, 1944 to Harris Bailey and Selma Brown Larson. She graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1962.
She married Woody Cox on November 6, 1965 and they made their home in Fairview, UT.
Patsy loved her community. She volunteered as an Ambulance driver, Bookmobile assistant, PTA member and loved being on the Miss Fairview Pageant committee for many years.
She worked for Nielsen’s Grocery Store, Fairview Elementary Cafeteria but her favorite was working as an orthodontic assistant with her friend Dr. Gayle Holman at Holman Orthodontics.
Patsy had a very generous heart, helping those in need and never wanted any recognition for it even when money was tight. She would donate money to various charities including The 65 Roses Club (Cystic Fibrosis Foundation) and buy meals for Missionaries and Veterans (she often said she was more patriotic than religious), giving money and donating items like sleeping bags, blankets, coats, gloves, toiletries, and children’s items for the Youth Homeless Center, and to those less fortunate. Patsy always looked forward to Christmas because she loved to do Secret Santa for a local family in need.
She enjoyed celebrating and decorating her house for every holiday, often leaving the decorations up until the next holiday.
We all have had many wonderful adventures with her, but our family favorite was going to Disneyland.
Patsy is survived by her children Lewis Cox of Holladay, UT; Bert (Mary) Cox of Fairview, UT; Melanie (Rich) Gillins of Mt. Pleasant, UT; Valerie (Brad) Welch of Fairview, UT; and her six grandchildren Kiera (Caden) Edmunds and Payton Cox, Chance (Angela Hatfield) and Laynie Gillins, BaileyAnn (Kenyon) Anderson and Lexi Welch who were all the sunshine of her life.
Also surviving are her sisters Connie (Vaughn) Thomas, Barbara Barton, Glenna (Charley) Riddle and her brother Paul (Kathy) Larson.
Patsy is preceded in death by her husband Iven Woodell “Woody” Cox, parents Harris and Selma, brothers Dean and Bert Larson.
The family would like to express many thanks to the Good Life Senior Living Care Center staff, particularly her granddaughter Kiera, for taking such great care of her during her short time there. We would also like to thank Sanpete Valley Hospital, Chad McKay NP, Intermountain Home Health & Hospice, Dr. Dallin Olson, Kallie and Tammy.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Fairview 3rd Ward Chapel (131 E 100 N). Viewings will be held Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to service both at the church. Interment in the Fairview City Cemetery.
