AHMED MAZHARI

President, Microsoft Asia

As President of Microsoft Asia, Ahmed Mazhari oversees a vibrant and diverse region comprising 20 countries, some 30,000 employees, and 100,000 partners.

He focuses on acceleration of the Asia Pacific region’s digital transformation enabled by Microsoft, as the leading productivity and platform company, through its product, service and support offerings. He also continues to build and reinforce Microsoft’s reputation as a trusted partner for individuals, organizations and governments.

Mazhari believes in deepening collaborations with Microsoft’s customers and partners in Asia to accelerate digital adoption and empower innovative advancements in the region. This is fueled by his deep understanding of business process transformation and his passion for embracing change and implementing creative solutions in a fast-paced world. He is a big believer in the power of long-term partnerships with both employees and customers to achieve stronger and longer-lasting growth.

He joined Microsoft Asia in February 2020, following 23 successful years at GE and Genpact (a spin off from GE in 2005) where he last served as Senior Vice President and Chief Growth Officer leading the company’s growth globally across all industry verticals, products, service lines and geographies. Prior to this, he held senior leadership roles at Xerox.

Mazhari holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, India. He is married with one child. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking with his family, is passionate about fitness, is an avid reader and loves watching cricket.

SHEE TSE KOON

Group Executive and Country Head, DBS Singapore

Shee Tse Koon is Group Executive and Country Head, DBS Singapore. Prior to this, he was Managing Director and Head of Group Strategy and Planning in DBS.

Tse Koon has 25 years of experience in the banking industry. He started his career at Standard Chartered and has held senior positions in a diverse range of roles across various front and back office functions. He has worked in several countries in Asia, the Middle East and the United Kingdom. Prior to joining DBS, he was the CEO of Standard Chartered in Indonesia. Previous to that, he was Head of Governance (Europe, Middle East, Africa & Americas) and also Senior Executive Officer (Standard Chartered, Dubai International Financial Centre), based in the United Arab Emirates; as well as Chief Information Officer and Head of Technology and Operations for Standard Chartered in Singapore. He has also held the position of Regional Head of Trade, based in Singapore and also the role of the Executive Assistant to one of Standard Chartered’s Group Executive Directors, based in the UK.

Tse Koon has also served as non-executive director on the boards of Standard Chartered Bank Zimbabwe Limited and Standard Chartered Capital Saudi Arabia.

Tse Koon graduated from National University of Singapore with Bachelor Degree with Merit in Economics and Philosophy.

THADDAEUS LEE

Executive Director,
Asia Innovation Centre, SMBC

Thaddaeus Lee is currently an Executive Director at the Asia Innovation Centre (AIC) of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) since February 2020. He is involved in the strategic planning and execution of the bank’s Asia-wide digital innovation, which include new business line expansion in multi-franchise markets, eco-system partnerships and investments.

Prior to this role, Thaddaeus was seconded to SMBC’s Head Office in Tokyo, Japan for 3 years (2017 to 2020) as Head of Asia in the Business Development Group, Global Banking Unit responsible for inorganic investments as well as PMO related strategic initiatives.

Thaddaeus has over 20 years of financial services experience, having led strategic planning and business development efforts, in delivering organic and inorganic growth throughout Asia growth markets via acquisitions, investments and joint venture alliances.

Thaddaeus started his career in management consulting with experience spanning across investment and commercial banking.

Thaddaeus completed his MBA at the National University of Singapore with specialization in Finance and Strategy. In his free time, he loves curling up with a good book or getting his adrenaline rush playing tennis with his family and hitting the sun-soaked dive sites, given his passion as a freelance scuba instructor.

SUTAPA AMORNVIVAT

CEO, SCB Abacus

Sutapa Amornvivat, Ph.D. is Founding CEO of SCB Abacus, an AI-powered data-tech startup that delivered Thailand’s first fully-automated digital lending platform using alternative data. The company is committed to build inclusive lending and decisioning platforms with security, privacy and simplicity at the core of our design. Sutapa currently sits on Public Sector Audit and Evaluation Subcommission, overseeing the development of Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC); and serves as board members of Khon Kaen University, Asian Institute of Technology, and Capital Market Academy.

Sutapa served on Subcommittee on Finance, Banking, Financial Institutions and Capital Markets, The National Legislative Assembly; as well as Board of Directors, Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (TCELS). Previously at Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), Sutapa was Chief-level executive, led the Economic Intelligence Center, established the Risk Analytics Division, and headed Risk Management Committee of SCB Asset Management (Thailand’s largest asset management company.) Before SCB, Sutapa founded TMB Analytics and Risk Analytics & Research Group at TMB Bank (now TTB) during her secondment from ING Group. Prior to joining the banking industry, Sutapa was Economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, DC.

Sutapa holds an AB from Harvard University and a PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) She was a recipient of Thailand's most prestigious King's Scholarship, and a representative of Thailand in the 23rd International Chemistry Olympiad. Sutapa was honored Asia21 Young Leader Fellow in 2007, by the Asia Society where she is later appointed as Global Council member.

TATSUYA KAMOI

President and CEO,
ABeam Consulting

During his career, Tatsuya Kamoi has held positions with PwC Consulting LLC, IBM Corporation and IBM Japan, Ltd. In 2014, he became President and CEO of Mercer Japan Co., Ltd. and Mercer Far East Market Leader. In 2019, he joined NEC as a Senior Corporate Executive.

Mr. Kamoi has been engaged in international consulting and IT development for global companies for more than 20 years and his extensive consulting experience on business globalization includes more than 10 years of overseas business experience.

CAROLINE RIADY

Deputy President Director,
Siloam International Hospitals

Ms. Riady obtained a Bachelor of Arts in primary school education from Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois, USA, in 2004.

She started her career in elementary education, teaching in public and private schools in the US and Indonesia. Later, she served as a lecturer at Pelita Harapan Teachers College, preparing future teachers to teach in rural, under-privileged communities in Indonesia. In 2012, she started serving as Executive Director of Siloam Hospitals Kebon Jeruk and in 2016, was appointed as Deputy President Director of Siloam Hospitals Group. In her present capacity, Caroline leads Siloam Hospitals networks with 40 hospitals.

Indonesian Citizen, 38th years old.

LINUS THAM

Group chief information officer IHH HEALTHCARE

Linus Tham was appointed Group Chief Information Officer, IHH Healthcare on 1 June 2017. IHH Healthcare Berhad is one of the largest healthcare groups in the world by market capitalisation.

Beyond overseeing operations of the group’s IT ecosystem, Linus plays a key role in the strategic development of group-level IT projects and infrastructure in support of the company’s business objectives, as well as readying the organisation for the healthcare digital revolution. He is particularly keen in seeking out innovative new digital technologies that can transform healthcare and how it is being delivered.

Prior to this appointment, he was the Group Chief Corporate Development Officer and Group Chief Operating Officer at the National Healthcare Group (NHG), where he was responsible for strategic planning and the group’s activities in population health and care integration whilst concurrently holding the position of Chief Operating Officer of the Institute of Mental Health; Singapore’s only dedicated 2,000-bed mental health hospital. Prior to that, Linus held positions as Chief Information Officer at Raffles Medical Group and also at NHG, as well as Chief Technology Architect, Managing Director and Head at DBS Bank’s Enterprise Architecture and Services unit.

Linus also served as founding Chairman of the Industry Advisory Board for the Centre for Healthcare Informatics @ National University of Singapore. He was also a member of the HIMSS AsiaPac Governing Council until 2021.

Linus was a recipient of the DBS Bank Undergraduate Scholarship and graduated with First Class Honours in Information Systems & Computer Science from the National University of Singapore. He is also an alumni of INSEAD.

JEREMY NIXON

CEO, Ocean Network Express

Jeremy Nixon is the Global CEO of Ocean Network Express (ONE), one of the largest liner shipping company in the world, which is headquartered in Singapore, and commenced its operation from April 2018.

His career originally started at sea as a navigating officer, followed by a BSc (Hons) in Maritime Commerce at Cardiff University (UK), and an MBA (FT) at Warwick University (UK).

He has been actively engaged in the container shipping industry for the last thirty years and has held senior management positions with P&O Nedlloyd, Maersk Line and NYK Line, in Europe, North America and Asia.

In July 2017 he resigned from NYK to head up Ocean Network Express, which was a new joint venture company founded by the K Line, MOL and NYK Group companies.

JARED CHNG

CFO, ENGIE South East Asia

Jared CHNG is Chief Financial Officer of ENGIE South East Asia, part of the ENGIE Group, a global reference in low-carbon energy and services. Jared oversees the accounting, business support, financial planning and analysis, treasury, and tax functions across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Jared has over 15 years’ experience managing finance teams across sectors such as Energy Infrastructure, Real Estate, and the Singapore Public Service. He has extensive experience ranging from controllership, operations, investment evaluation and corporate finance in country and regional roles.

Other than his home base in Singapore, he has worked and lived in Malaysia and Australia. Jared graduated with a Second Class (Upper) Honors Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and completed the CFA program.

NGUYEN MANH TUONG

Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Co-CEO, MoMo (M-Service)

Mr. Tuong, with a BSc from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, also holds a MSc in Computer Science from Buffalo University (New York) and MBA from Chicago Booth School of Business.

He has over 20 years of experience in technology and finance industries. He has led MoMo's growth since its founding with a mission to provide Vietnamese people with access to daily life services and financial services in an easy and simple way through technological applications.

FULCO WIJDOOGE

General Manager China, Ridder Group

Fulco Wijdooge is the general manager of the Ridder China, the APAC subsidiary of the Ridder Group from the Netherlands – one of the largest technical and digital solution providers for protected agriculture in the world – which he established in 2015 and where he helped to build some of China’s largest high-tech greenhouses.

Besides Ridder, he is also director of the supervisory board of Food Ventures China, a prominent Dutch operational management company for advanced greenhouse projects worldwide. He has extensive experience in setting up and developing agri food businesses, and primarily focuses on providing agri food chain solutions with the goal of realizing profitable agri-businesses by increasing yields and quality and lowering costs and resource usage.

Fulco holds a master’s degree in Sinology with a specialization in international management and has lived in China since 2004 working in international trade for the Dutch government and Dutch agriculture and food processing consortia after working in the Netherlands in business consultancy.

SANDHYA SRIRAM

Group CEO and Chairman, Shiok Meats

Dr. Sandhya Sriram is the Group CEO, Chairman, and Co-founder of Shiok Meats Pte. Ltd., Singapore, the first cultivated seafood & meat company in Southeast Asia and the first cultivated Crustacean company globally. With her at the helm, Shiok Meats has raised USD 30 Million in funding since its inception in 2018, from a global suite of investors - USA, Europe, Singapore, Japan, South Korea to name a few. Shiok Meats also acquired Gaia Foods, a cultivated red meat company, headquartered in Singapore as well.

A stem cell biologist and scientist by training and education, a former business development professional, a serial entrepreneur, and a thought leader - all in one - Sandhya was recently named as part of the 2021 class of Bloomberg New Economy Catalysts and as one of Forbes Women in Tech.

She is also an advisor and investor to trailblazing Food Tech start-ups and has spoken at leading industry conferences worldwide. A proud mother to an 8-year-old, a conscious lifestyle blogger, and an avid traveller, Sandhya likes to call herself a productive juggler.

General Profile: Sandhya has over ten years of experience working with muscle, adipose, cells, and stem cells. After graduating with a Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Sandhya pursued her postdoctoral work at A*STAR in Singapore. Following four years of postdoctoral work, she took up business development at a research institute.

JOJI THOMAS PHILIP

Joji is the founder of Deal Street Asia. He is a 24×7 information enthusiast, currently based in Singapore, and leads a pan-Asia team. Prior to this, he was among the most prolific journalists in India, and chronicled the communications/telecoms segment, breaking some of the biggest stories in these sectors, during his tenure at The Economic Times, and Business Standard. Since 2013, he has also been with Mint, a financial daily from HT Media Ltd. Joji has won the Business Standard-Seema Nazareth Award for Excellence in Journalism in March 2006. Akito Tanaka is a senior staff writer for Nikkei and Nikkei Asia's Chief business news correspondent, covering the technology sector from Singapore. Tanaka has over twenty years of reporting experience and has also been covering global companies in Japan, the United States and Asia. He is the recipient of the top prize for breaking news at the Asian Media Awards from the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers for "After Gohsn-- Nissan and Renault wrestle for control of their shared auto empire."

Tanaka graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, with BA in political science. He spent his childhood years in Lisbon, Portugal, attending the American International School.

SONOKO WATANABE

Managing Director, Nikkei Group Asia

Sonoko Watanabe is currently the Managing Director of Nikkei Group Asia. Based in Singapore, she has been overseeing the sales and marketing of Nikkei’s publications and services in the region since March 2021.

Watanabe spent most of her career as a reporter and an editor covering business news and international news. From 1994 to 1997 she worked as a correspondent in Singapore, reporting on business news across ASEAN, and from 2006 to 2009 she was Nikkei’s Shanghai bureau chief. From 2016 to 2019 she was the editor-in-chief of Nikkei Asian Review (current “Nikkei Asia”). Prior to her return to Singapore, Watanabe was the editor-in-chief of Nikkei’s Osaka editorial headquarters.

SHOTARO TANI

Indonesia Correspondent,
Nikkei Asia

Shotaro Tani is the correspondent for Nikkei Asia in Indonesia. He started his career as an editor for Japan’s leading business daily Nikkei in 2011, afterwards moving to the economics department covering central bank news and market news. He moved to Jakarta in 2018 and now extensively covers all things Indonesia, from corporate news, startups to politics and macro economy.

Dylan Loh writes for Nikkei Asia from its Singapore bureau; covering business, politics and macroeconomics in Southeast Asia. He was previously in broadcast journalism as a TV and radio correspondent for regional news network CNA, and also headed marketing communications for Asian financial services conglomerate PhillipCapital. Dylan was a U.K. Chevening scholar who did his postgraduate degree in International Relations at King’s College London.

TAKASHI NAKANO

Singapore Bureau Chief

Takashi Nakano has been Nikkei’s Singapore and Kuala Lumpur bureau chief since April 2017. Based in Singapore, he covers various topics such as macroeconomics, financial industries and international trade across Southeast Asia. Nakano is also a regular contributor to Nikkei’s English publication, Nikkei Asia.

With more than 20 years of experience in journalism, Nakano spent more than 10 years as a reporter in Nikkei’s economic department, covering extensively on Japan’s financial industries, trade and energy policies.

He holds a degree in political science from Waseda University in Japan.
