Well hello there! 👋
I'm Frazer, a back-end developer working in the healthcare sector in south west England. The son of a nurse 👩⚕️ and a Royal Marine/firefighter 👨🚒, it was inevitable I would also end up in working in, and eventually with, the public sector!
The use of open-source projects benefits my previous roles in the NHS and my current work massively.
As an example, it allowed Yeovil Hospital to focus resources on endeavors like improving patient care or building a new breast cancer unit instead. Because of this, I try to contribute back to projects that I use where I can, like fastify (that I am a member of) and pino.
Unless there is a good reason not to, I try to make every project I work on available for other people to reuse and build on.
To quote an award nomination I received at Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust:
Frazer works steadily to keep the behind-the-scenes real-time system communications flowing, and he continually improves them to be more robust and dependable. He is a rare, dedicated, hard-working asset to the hospital who richly deserves recognition for his superb service to the patients and staff of YDH and the community beyond.
Outside of work I continue to build things that can be used by the NHS, like node-poppler and docsmith! I am also the resident documentation wrangler and CI builder for fastify.
