(Retired) Shirakawa-go Sunset 2023 Wooden Tree Ornament
Shirakawa-go, a picturesque village nestled in the Japanese Alps, was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995. The traditional farmhouses scattered around the village, called "gassho-zukuri," are renowned for their steep, A-frame roofs that resemble hands pressed together in prayer, which helps them withstand heavy snowfall in the region. The village, nestled in a serene valley surrounded by lush mountains, offers visitors a glimpse into Japan's rural history and cultural traditions. During winter, the village is lit up at night on certain dates for an extra-special spectacle.
The design is printed on laser-cut walnut wood for a handmade-feel, and strung with a bright red ribbon trimmed in gold thread. Each ornament measures approximately 9cm tall (3.5 inches) x 5.7cm wide (2.25 inches) wide, not including the ribbon. Ornaments are printed on one side only. Each ornament is presented in a gift box with interior black foam padding for safe storage after the holidays.
This ornament is a limited edition special item for the 2023 holiday season, and will not be reprinted after the season ends.
