I need a firm mattress that won't get depressions in it for a good 10 years... I know that regular mattresses have springs. There's so many kinds... the spring ones the more the better? Then there's wrapped springs, horsehair beds, feather beds, memory foam, pillow topped mattresses, air coils... sooooooo many! I am so confused by every product and service these days. I remember back in the 70s (and older obviously) where you had a choice of Bell telephone and that was it! No cable packages to choose from and only three TV channels basically! It was so much better then. You didn't have to spend 20% of your life discussing and researching what to buy! I don't know what to do about a bed. I gotta get that, pick a headboard and a washer/dryer in the next two months and I'm just exhausted. Then I'll need the sheets which is another story. No mattress is the same depth and no sheet is made right and I want a very tight fitting sheet that won't come off at the corners. I detest wrinkles when sleeping; I am bothered by everything! LOL I'm going out this weekend to measure washers and dryers and I'll be trying on mattresses in the places I go that have both... I'm going to need a LOT of luck.

When I was in the market for a new mattress, I went to Macy's and found one I liked. It is a pillowtop. The saleslady asked if I wanted a full size box spring or half. I had never seen such a thing, but told her a full size. When it was delivered it was so high I couldn't get up on it. I made them take it back. I also wrote a letter of complaint because I felt the saleswoman should have pointed out that none of the mattresses on the showroom floor had the full size box spring. I had never seen one before and I thought she should have pointed out the fact that I would need a ladder just to get into bed. There was no difference in price between the full and half box spring. My mattress does have a crater in it and is too heavy for me to turn. I don't like it, but I can't just go out and buy another one so soon. :(

Hi everyone! I'm considering buying a hybrid mattress set that's innerspring with talalay latex. It's manufactured by Diamond Mattress in California. They have been in business since the 60's, but I can only find 3 google reviews for them. It's to replace a Beautysleep that's a week old and I hate it; so its being exchanged. If anyone has any experience, please provide details about how the comfort level holds up over time. Please provide specifics in firmness, eurotop, etc. Thanks so very much for responding! I'm desperate for good sleep :)

Tough one and I can relate. You own what is probably a pretty nice mattress still. There are gel infused versions from competitors which will be a bit cooler. They'll feel the same. When I'd have sore ribs from hockey I could cat nap on the memory foam we sold but NOT on the soft innersprings. My feelings: Hybrid/smybrid. There is little effective difference in having some coils hidden under several inches of foam. My suggestion would be try some at the store for a long time and get a good sleep trial from someplace which sells soft soft gel / memory foam model and a soft pillowtops. None of us sell fountain of youth mattresses which fix the pains of getting older but you can make the best choice possible that way.
