When I saw no one initially respond, I went ahead and just bought these off bellacor. 1) Kichler Lege Brushed Nickel Three Light fixture (it was on clearance for $109 but is back up to $218) for the narrow alcove. The Canarm Lyndi Brushed Nickel Four-Light Vanity Light for the bathroom (also $109). I decided to go with a wider fixture since the bathroom is bigger. The 3 light fixture just seemed too narrow at 23" wide (compared to 30" for this 4 light one). And this Designers Fountain Brushed Nickel Flush Mount with Milk Acrylic Lens ($68 on clearance) for the overhead light in the bathroom: I figured the brushed nickel/contemporary look would work and made sure the bulbs weren't halogen (the overhead one is a T9 fluorescent bulb).

I had the exact same problem. I picked out the vanity I wanted but did not think about the fact that it wasn't made to sit flush against the wall. I spent a month looking for something else, but in the end we decided to go with something shorter and have it not be against the wall. But we were going from 72" to 60" which is probably not workable in your mom's situation. I did find a lot of vanities that did have flat sides and could work in a corner, if you are willing to have the countertop fabricated. They just need to not have any trim detail on the top or bottom like the one you picked out does. I would just look at the ones without the pre-made tops. Because the pre-made top will still leave you with a slight gap because of the countertop overhang. This is an example: Avanity Modero which is sold everywhere, not just at Lowe's. The cabinet we ended up buying is an Avanity Madison which won't work for you, but I assume it is of similar quality. We are pretty happy with it. The drawers and doors have soft close but I do feel like the glides in my Ikea kitchen drawers are better quality. It is very pretty and I wanted a stained wood so I am really happy with our choice. If I had been willing to go with a painted finish, I think we might have stuck with the 72" Modero.

Thank you, ladies. 2 sconces was my original choice, but wanted to consider other options because I’m not a designer ha! Great point about picking mirror first prior to lighting. My main concern was the electrician running wiring before the tile was sealed down, but was just here and can do it. Thanks so much for the advice!

can we see the light in your bathroom? all you have is a product picture (btw, that isn't a very good choice for a bathroom ceiling light) You'll have to contact the lighting store to see what their rules are on returns. (how long has it been?) normally you can just box everything up the way it came and return. just depends on the store. as for the recessed light, If he's running the line from a junction, he may not be able to run it to the can light. although, it shouldn't be a bid deal if he's using a retro fit recessed light kit. again, without more details, hard to say. lets see some photos of the actual space. maybe there is a better light that you can use. and why wasn't size taken into account? 16" wide is a little large. most ceiling fixtures are in the 13" range. would that be a better size for yours?
