This isn't the exact same thing, so you might just consider it a co-misery post , but my agaves did the very same thing. It was a kind of slow motion event of healthy leaves turning brown or grey. These particular agaves are good to zones 4 & 5 so I don't think it had anything to do with cold + we weren't all that wet either, IOW, there is no rot at the bases. This of course makes my snow situation different than yours but I'm also guessing what in the world happened to mine too. My best guess was a covering of ice combined with the sun shining on it the next day acting like a magnifying glass which burned the leaves. The cosmetic damage is extensive, I expect they will need a couple seasons to look good again. I am just leaving them alone, maybe you should too, just wait and see what a season of new growth will bring & hope for the best. ps I have 3 varieties of yucca I love. You are right, there are some very nice well behaved ones out there. I did dig up a couple large clumps of THE OTHER KIND. Bad stuff. make sure you put some empty coke bottles in the pool to allow for expansion... not that important since u have a liner and not tiles but still worth it in my opinion...

I am no expert but it does seem that mine kicks on at 35 or 36 degrees and I can't find a way to change it. I just leave my auto pump cycle off now that the pumps are running all night so I am not running all day and night.

Have experience with Leafguard, Gutterhelmet, and gutterguard. Have found them to all work well. What your friend says is true, but a clogged gutter will run over a LOT more. I have not found overrun to be an issue with any of them. My preference is Gutterguard, but it is the most expensive! Has the largest profile to the gutter and can move the most water with the fewest downspouts. The covers are about 10' long segments which can be replaced individually if needed. Gutterhelmet does a fine job but must be fitted under the second row of shingles. A plus for it is it can fit on current gutters, thus not as expensive. It also has a bit of a different look, which we did find to be a problem. Leafguard does fine but due to the smaller profile gutter, it requires more downspouts. Without enough downspouts, it can overflow during extremely heavy rain. Valleys can be a bit problematic with any of them, but a diverter can be added to help in that area. Currently I have Leafguard on the front of our house, and Gutterguard on the back. The front, done some time ago, has short runs. When we did an addition and reroofed the back we decided to go with Gutterguard as there were some 70' runs where I only wanted a downspout at each end. First installed the helmet about 9 years ago, never have cleaned a gutter since. Have also tried just about all the other ones that clip on and don't work, and were a waste of time and money. Paul
