Florida football: DJ Lagway dressed, Aidan Warner starts at QB for UF against Texas
AUSTIN, Texas — Florida football quarterback DJ Lagway and running back Montrell Johnson Jr. are listed as game-time decisions for the Florida Gators against No. 5 Texas, per the SEC's availability report.
The 6-foot-3, 239-pound Lagway was carted off the field with a hamstring injury against Georgia. Florida football coach Billy Napier had Lagway take part in limited drills in practice this week. Lagway was in full uniform and took snaps from center during pregame warmups.
Third-string quarterback Aidan Warner, who went 7-for-16 for 66 yards and 1 interceptions, started for Florida, though Lagway remained dressed and on the sidelines for the game.
Wide receiver Elijhah Badger and starting right guard Dameion George Jr. have been ruled out, along with starting cornerbacks Jason Marshall Jr. and Devin Moore.
The Florida Gators (4-4, 2-3 SEC) enter today's game as 21.5-point underdogs against the Longhorns (7-1, 3-1 SEC) in Saturday's game at Darrel K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Florida is playing Texas for the first time since 1940 and the first time against the Longhorns in Austin since 1939.
