As Hawkeyes, we give back throughout our lives.
We're leaders in our professions. We're generous with our time and talent. We're passionate about things we love—especially anything black and gold. And some Hawkeyes continue to make an impact well beyond retirement.
That's why we honor Iowa alumni, age 80 and over, who carry the Hawkeye spirit of achievement and continue to help others. Co-presented by the Barbara and Richard Csomay Center for Gerontological Excellence, the University of Iowa Center for Advancement would like to congratulate our 2025 Eight Over 80 Award Winners:
A lifelong educator, Winston Addis has utilized his three University of Iowa degrees to build an expansive career and consistently support his alma mater and other organizations. In retirement, he has continued to be a strong supporter of classical music organizations and a unique school near his home in the Seattle area.
Following decades of dedication to the University of Iowa College of Nursing, Martha "Marty" Craft-Rosenberg continues her legacy of caring and thoughtful leadership. The former dean and prolific author now volunteers to nourish her community literally and figuratively.
Vietnam veteran, activist, and philanthropist Robert Dockendorff had a far-reaching impact on his country and community. From his Naval service to his involvement in civic, LGBTQ, and political organizations, Dockendorff was driven to serve the greater good. He died Dec. 9, 2024.
Judith Shorey Tuetken is an active octogenarian, spending her time beautifying and strengthening her community through her volunteer work. A huge Hawkeye fan, Tuetken attended every home football game from 1955 through 2018. As a member of a family with five generations of University of Iowa graduates, she is also a constant advocate for the university.
As a Hawkeye whose proudest accomplishments include his family, business, and community giving, Richard "Dick" Smith has made a lasting impression. As founder and chairman of Agri-Industrial Plastics (AIP), he continues to contribute to organizations that enhance business and life in Iowa and beyond.
Recipients will be celebrated during Older American Month at a luncheon in May.
