Trade is an integral part of our agrifood systems. It fulfils the fundamental role of moving food from surplus to deficit regions, thus contributing to world food security. Global food markets connect people and countries around the world and shape the availability, diversity and prices of foods, and thus can affect diets and nutritional outcomes. These effects can be widely heterogeneous across countries both in direction and magnitude.

The 2024 edition of The State of Agricultural Commodity Markets (SOCO) explores the complex linkages between food trade and nutrition, analysing the intersection of trade policies and nutrition measures, and generating evidence on how trade can affect dietary patterns and nutritional outcomes. The report will serve as a critical resource for policy makers, offering a better understanding of these dynamics and illustrating how nutrition objectives can be pursued within the context of trade agreements and the evolving landscape of global agrifood systems.

The report will be launched in hybrid modality. Register online on Zoom.

The official launch will be webcast live here

Simultaneous interpretation will be available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish, and Russian.
