Charles âChuckâ Melvin Carson, formerly of Emporia, died Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the Meadowbrook Hospice in Gardner, Kansas. He was 74.
Chuck was born on July 26, 1950, in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Grant Melvin and Elsie Katherine Dial Carson. He married Janet M. Shafer on May 5, 1973, in Winfield, Kansas.
Surviving family members include his children, Grant (Kali) Carson of Enid, Oklahoma, Samantha Lee Schenk of Topeka; grandchildren, Grace Carson, Jack Carson, Chloe Marie Schenk, Konner Lane Schenk; one sister; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Chuck was a Customer Service Manager at Kansas Continental Express. He retired after 30 years of service. Chuck was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporia, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Jaycees and received the JCI Senator Award. He really liked to stay active in the communities he lived in. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, outdoor activities, and attending his sonâs sporting events.
Cremation is planned with a Memorial Service at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Messiah Lutheran Church.
