Levadiakos added spice to a rather tasteless weekend

Greek soccer teams appeared to be distracted by the upcoming holidays, as they produced few goals and little action over the weekend in the Super League, with Levadiakos offering some excitement ahead of Christmas, by snatching a draw at AEK.

Leader Olympiakos appeared to disappoint its coach, Jose Luis Mendilibar, with its performance against bottom team Lamia, but still ground out a 1-0 home win on Saturday with a Gelson Martins strike in the second half.

PAOK had no such problems against 10-man Atromitos, winning 3-0 in Toumba on Sunday through goals by Fedor Chalov, Andrija Zivkovic and Mady Camara.

AEK fell behind to a Fabricio Pedroso penalty and escaped defeat through a 94th-minute equalizer by Simos Mitoglou for a 1-1 result in Nea Filadelfia.

Panathinaikos also found it hard to bend the resistance of lowly Kallithea at home, but did win 1-0 courtesy of an Alexander Jeremejeff strike on the 82nd and climbed to third. The visitors played for over an hour with 10 men.

The only other game of the weekend, that between Panserraikos and Panetolikos, ended up goalless.

On Monday Asteras Tripolis hosts Aris and Volos greets OFI Crete.

Olympiakos leads the race with 34 points, PAOK is on 33, Panathinaikos climbed to 32, AEK moved to 31, Aris is on 27 with a game in hand, and Panetolikos reached 23.
