A cure for the church of the healing saint
An extensive conservation project is under way at the Church of Saint Therapon in Mytilini, the capital of Lesvos. Designed by Argyris Adalis, a student of Ernst Ziller, the 130-year-old church dominates the skyline with its large central dome and four corner vaults. The zinc plates covering the smaller domes are being replaced with titanium zinc alloy, which is also being used for the architectural details of the roof, a combination of Late Gothic, Neoclassical and Baroque elements.
