Traveler spending soars in October
Travel spending surged by 19.7% in October 2024, reaching €2.176 billion, up from €1.819 billion in October 2023. This increase was driven by an 8.6% rise in incoming travel and a 10.7% increase in average spending per traveler.
For the January–October period of 2024, receipts rose by €1.094 billion, or 5.5%, totaling €20.935 billion. This growth was fueled by a 9.2% rise in incoming travel, though average spending per trip decreased by 4.3%. Notably, travel receipts surpassed the total for the previous year by October, with record-breaking performances in September and October making up for losses in July and August.
Germany, the UK, France, Italy, and the US led the charge in visitor arrivals, with October marking significant gains: Germany up 6.1%, France up 19.4%, Italy up 26%, the UK up 10.4% and the US soaring by 49.9%.
In October 2024, incoming travel reached 3.414 million, an 8.6% increase compared to 2023.
