Rather than eating children, which may yet be an option for them, they have degenerated into the Absurdist Realm, wherein nothing is irrational or unreasonable.
To wit: shoplifters should be shot and killed. Someone who walks through a Fire Door should be hung at dawn. You all get the idea. Next we are going to hear that any Democrat who awakens with a pressing need to urinate is guilty of a capital crime.
The saluting holding a coffee cup or wearing of a tan suit was just a warmup to the Big Show. It is beyond naysaying, it is bordering on genocidal ideation - that there is no action too small to warrant a death sentence or imprisonment in a concentration camp and then gassing and incineration. This is not stochastic terrorism, it is stochastic genocide. They are desensitizing Americans to the concept of indiscriminate death, first on a small scale, and then on a larger one.
Of course this is ridiculous, of course this is impossible and we live in America the land of freedom of expression and it could never happen. Except that there is precedent, think Nazi Germany, think incarceration of Japanese citizens during WWII, think The Crusades. People don't change, only the methodology does. There are plenty of Americans who would jump at the chance to effect these notions.
When I was an adolescent, my mom befriended a German lady of advanced age who was, according to her at least, a righteous gentile in Germany. She was a sensitive, feeling, intellectual lady and we had no reason to doubt her overtly, but of course, there was always the sneaking suspicion that it was an act, but that's a discussion for a different day. This lady said that the roundup of Jews and other "undesirables" was carried out with military effectiveness and precision, with the militia being heavily armed and there was no question of resistance. To have done so would have meant instant death and everyone knew it. Interestingly, she also said that only a few people, not including her, thought that there would be mass murder before the fact. "They" would NEVER do that. She lived in a city and when the truth came out after the War, she was beyond horrified. Her husband was a professor of something or another and wound up at Princeton, near to where we lived.
It most certainly can happen here. Make no mistake.

tribal warfare? Nationalism? For example, people in Rwanda hunting their neighbors to murder them - it wasn't a frantic attack, they would systematically kill people who were hiding, and come back every day to kill just one, a child, a woman with a baby, or just cut off one leg each day, then an arm...

Other weird and / or wacky things have been proposed over the years too, as republican politicians try to outdo each other in grabbing attention w/ idiotic proposals that really have no chance of standing constitutional-wise (being deemed unconstitutional).
