<p>Popular Malayalam actor Mamukkoya died in Kozhikode on Wednesday. He was 76.</p>.<p>Mamukkoya acted in over 400 films over the last four decades and was popular for handling comedian roles.</p>.<p>A native of Kozhikode, Mamukkoya suffered a cardiac arrest while attending the inauguration of a local football tournament in Malappuram district on Monday. His condition was stated to be criticial since then and he died by Wednesday noon.</p>.<p>Mamukkoya started his acting career as a theater actor during 1970s. He made his first appearance in the silver screen in 1979 through the film <em>Anyarude Bhoomi </em>. Later on he created his own space in the film industry with his typical slang. He has left behind many memorable roles and comic dialogues in films.</p>.<p>Mamukkoya also did the title roles in a few films including <em>Korappan</em> in 2001. Mamukkoya proved his caliber in handling serious roles by winninng a special mention in Kerala state film awards for his role in the film <em>Perumazhakalam</em>. He won the state award for best comedian in 2008 for his role in <em>Innathe Chintha Vishayam</em>.</p>.<p>Mamukkoya leaves behind wife and four children. His funeral would be held on Thursday at Kozhikode.</p>
