GUJRAT: The FIA on Friday arrested four human traffickers, including one involved in recent Greece boat tragedy, during an ongoing crackdown in Gujranwala division.

An FIA spokesman said Abdul Majeed, a resident of Post Office Hellan, Phalia tehsil of Mandi Bahauddin, had been arrested in a case registered in Gujrat. He had extorted Rs4.2m with the connivance of a co-accused from the family of Fahad to send him to Greece. Fahad went missing in the recent boat incident.

FIA Gujranwala arrested Muhammad Naqash, of Khayali Shahpur. He had received Rs380,000 from a complainant for sending his brother to Malaysia but did not fulfill his commitment.

The other two arrested human traffickers were identified as Amjad Chaham and Shabbir.
