Repositories

Visibility, dissemination and reputation

Repositories are a place to collect, manage, disseminate, preserve and redistribute contents created in participating institutions, in an organized and interoperable way, either in open or restricted access.   

Thanks to repositories, the visibility of the content produced in these institutions is greatly increased, as is their potential audience. 

As promoters of open science in Catalonia, at CSUC we coordinate different cooperative repositories to promote open access. Depending on the type of resource that it contains, we have TDX for theses; RECERCAT for research documents; RACO for scientific, cultural and scholarly journals; MACO for  academic monographs; MDC for collections related to Catalonia and its heritage; and MDX for teaching materials. 

In addition to cooperative repositories, we also provide a service for the development of repositories, adapted to the needs of each institution, either with standard solutions (Turnkey Repositories or RPB) or with more features and a grater degree of customization (Advanced Features Repositories or RPA). 

We specialize in specific open source software for DSpace repositories and OJS (Open Journal Services) for scientific journals. Since 2021, CSUC has been bronze member of the DuraSpace community, which develops DSpace, and whose objective is to lead and innovate in open source technologies mainly addressed to universities, libraries, research centers and cultural heritage organizations.
