Gail Dean Matheny was born July 11, 1945, to Claude and Crystal (Evans) Matheny. He grew up and spent nearly his entire life in the Lenox area. He passed away on Dec. 29, 2024, in Oakland.
On March 14, 1964, he married Mary Naomi Winslow and welcomed her son, David, to the family. Gail and Mary had three children together, Terri, Mike and Tami. They enjoyed going camping with the children and friends on weekends when the kids were younger, and throughout their lives.
Gail worked at several jobs over the years but spent the majority with Toteâs and Daltonâs, working in different capacities. He was primarily a welder by trade. He also fancied himself as a backyard mechanic and helped many friends along the way.
Gail had several hobbies over the years, was an avid bowler, going to several tournaments with friends. He was a very good pool player and enjoyed playing card games. Gail loved to go fishing, especially for big catfish whenever he could. He enjoyed his Pepsi and a PBR now and then!
Some great memories were made over the years, till sadly Dementia took them all slowly away. Gail lost Mary in 2013, and things were never the same after that.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: David (Becky) Snedeker, Terri (Ron) Jennett, Mike Matheny and Tami (Pete) Gray; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Joan Shimer; two brothers, Harry Dale and Leonard Matheny; several nieces and nephews.
